Grandma’s birthday gift is given through a breast cancer donation
Recently during the 5th Annual Paint the Mountain Pink event hosted by Shawnee Mountain Ski Area, Loreen Peknic purchased the grand prize ticket and won the Nidecker “Score” snowboard. “When I purchased the ticket I requested number 444. My Mom’s birthday was 4-4-44. My Mom passed away 5 years ago of Leukemia. She was diagnosed in March and passed 5 months later at age 68. She adored her grandchildren and we miss her everyday. I purchased the raffle ticket specifically for the snowboard to help fight cancer and as a gift for my son’s birthday that had just passed. After purchasing the ticket, I told him he was going to win because it was a birthday gift from his Grandma!” states Peknic.
$1900.00 was raised during the breast cancer awareness event and donated to the Hope for Strength Breast Cancer Fund/LVHN-Pocono Foundation. The first 200 people purchasing a lift ticket that day received a free knit cap compliments of Shawnee Mountain. For more information, visit hopeforstrength.com.
